Since 2006, specialists from all over the world interested in adhesive bonding technology have found their way to Bremen to attend the English-language DVS/EWF European Adhesive Engineer (EAE) course at Fraunhofer IFAM. The participants particularly appreciate the opportunity to discuss individual adhesive bonding issues on site with experts and to gain direct insights into current research. Against the background of the pandemic with its travel restrictions and changed communication channels through video conferencing systems, we have decided to offer the international European Adhesive Engineer (EAE) course in a new, blended learning format from 2022.
In the pilot course, which will start on 5. September 2022, we will combine face-to-face and online learning in such a way that participants can get the best of both worlds:
Travel and absence times will be minimised, the opportunity for self-directed learning at one's own pace will be increased, opportunities for direct exchange with subject scholars in the research institute will be preserved.
How exactly did we do this?
In the pilot phase 2022/2023, the course content from two course weeks will be taught online via the Fraunhofer IFAM e-learning platform, which participants can use regardless of location and time. The content is conveyed through recorded learning videos, presentations set to music, teaching-learning texts, learning quizzes and self-checks, virtual group exercises, etc., which the participants can work on at their own pace on the learning platform. In addition, the participants and lecturers meet at fixed times in video conferences to exchange and consolidate the content. Participants' questions are discussed and contexts explained here. In addition, the experts involved are available for specific questions in separate expert chats, as is also possible in the classic courses.
