Fraunhofer IFAM is the world's largest R&D organization in the area of adhesive bonding technology. A wide range of industries make use of the R&D services and training courses offered by Fraunhofer IFAM. In the area of adhesive bonding, three courses are offered: European Adhesive Bonder, European Adhesive Specialist, and European Adhesive Engineer. The courses are constantly updated based on the very latest R&D findings of Fraunhofer IFAM. "The course participants are trained at the highest level. The internationally recognized DVS®/EWF training system was developed by Fraunhofer IFAM in collaboration with industry. The training courses offered by Fraunhofer IFAM enable companies to benefit from a total training concept, with the key being knowledge transfer by the knowledge generators", says Dr. Erik Meiß, Head of the Training Center for Adhesive Bonding Technology.
Fraunhofer IFAM has also invested a great deal in its Training Center for Fiber Composite Technology. The objective was to create an optimum learning environment for the FRP-Manufacturer, FRP-Remanufacturer, and FRP-Specialist training courses. "Currently many courses of differing quality are offered on fiber composites. As with adhesive bonding, our courses on fiber composites are setting new quality standards", explains Beate Brede, Head of the Training Center for Fiber Composite Technology. Industries that use fiber composites are increasingly having to comply with quality standards, and highly trained employee are required to undertake this work. For example, employees undertaking repair and maintenance work on rail vehicles require special training in fiber composites. The researchers at Fraunhofer IFAM are experts in this area and this enables the courses offered by Fraunhofer IFAM to be kept constantly up-to-date with the current state of technology.
