The world-renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM has carried out cutting-edge R&D in the area of adhesive bonding technology for many years. More recently the area of fiber reinforced plastics (FRPs) has become a major field of work for the institute. "Knowledge transfer has been a focus of Fraunhofer IFAM for more than 20 years", explains Professor Bernd Mayer, Director of Fraunhofer IFAM. "Our aim is to carry out first-class R&D work in the area of adhesive bonding technology and fiber composite technology and to pass on this knowledge in training courses." Fraunhofer IFAM currently employs 580 people and is one of the largest independent research organizations in the world in these technical fields. The course participants value and trust this ethos and the quality of the training program. "We have already trained several thousand people in the area of adhesive bonding technology and ever more people are taking our courses in fiber composite technology", says Professor Andreas Groß, Head of the Workforce Training and Technology Transfer department at Fraunhofer IFAM.
